Adams comments on poll results

KATU’s polls have been making waves this week. The SurveyUSA poll found Rep. Jeff Merkley and Candy Neville with about the same amount of support in the U.S. Senate race, and now a poll of Portland voters has Sam Adams and Sho Dozono running neck and neck for Mayor, with the former at 39% and the latter at 38%,

It’s not the straight numbers that are prompting Adams to speak out, however; rather, it is the finding that conservatives overwhelmingly support his opponent.

The candidate used the results to highlight what he sees as the contrast between himself and Dozono.

The poll does clarify what is at stake in the race: My support is coming from people who care about schools and who share Portland’s progressive values. Sho clearly is drawing his support from conservatives. There is a definite contrast here, and I think that as the campaign continues, that will be good for us,” Adams said in a statement.
