State Senator Rick Metsger released the first of his television ads in anticipation of the May 20 primary, which highlights the Senator’s vote on H.B. 2614 back in 2005.

The ad, entitled “every vote counts” features a line-up of voters talking about how “Rick Metsger stood up for [their] voices.”

H.B. 2614 threw substantial barriers in the way of an independent candidate’s path to the ballot in Oregon, and Metsger stood in opposition to legislation, while his current opponents, Sens. Vicki Walker and Kate Brown, did not.

Although Sen. Brad Avakian dropped out of the race in order to replace Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner, the Democratic field is still crowded, and Metsger’s reminder that he stood against the contentious bill provides voters another front on which to differentiate the candidates.
