The race between Democrats John Kroger and Rep. Greg Macpherson grabbed media attention last week after a series of Macpherson’s ads hit the airwaves, raising Kroger’s ire.
Kroger just released a new spot of his own – one that inquires if voters are “insulted” by Macpherson’s “wholly negative” and “misleading” campaign.
The spot draws quotes a series of editorials and commentaries from The Oregonian and the Register-Guard that ran after Macpherson aired his last two ads.
The Mcpherson spots touted the message that Kroger’s record in Oregon is “open space” and that he has never practiced law in the state, having only passed the Oregon bar in 2007.
Kroger took issue with the factuality of Macpherson’s claims, and a back and forth over the definition of ‘practice’ ensued. In his new ad, Kroger makes sure to highlight a quote from an editorial in The Oregonian, which noted that Kroger is “an experienced, effective federal prosecutor.”
