Obama campaign appoints Rob Hill as state director

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is gearing up for a war in Oregon, and on Wednesday it announced who will lead the charge.

Rob Hill has been named Oregon state director for the general election, in hopes that he will deliver Oregon for Obama the same way he delivered Oregon in 2004 when he was state director for Democratic presidential candidate and U.S Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.).

Hill has been in charge of numerous successful campaigns in the last four years. After Kerry's win in Oregon, Hill went on to run the successful underdog campaign for U.S Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana) in 2006, who won by a razor-thin margin of less than 3,000 votes. Hill then threw his support behind Obama for the 2008 presidential race, working as state director for Obama for America in three states (Maine, Vermont, and Oregon) and leading Obama's team to three victories.

"Oregon has a proud tradition of grassroots activism and community involvement that show the unlimited possibilities when Americans stand up for change," Hill said in a statement. "I'm excited and humbled to work alongside thousands of Oregonians for the next phase of this movement for change."
