Brown coasting as Dancer picks up the pace

Democratic Secretary of State nominee Kate Brown appears to be taking a somewhat lax attitude in her general election race against Republican nominee Rick Dancer.  Brown seems to be resting on her laurels from victory in the crowded four-way Democratic primary in May as she has only $8,313 in her campaign bank account and has raised a mere $16,817 since May 20.

Dancer, on the other hand, is cranking his campaign up a notch by raising nearly $100,000 since he began campaigning in March with $69,697 cash-on-hand.  Some of his more interesting donors include veteran lobbyist Larry Campbell, Friends of Ron Saxton, and a generous check for $25,000 from Seneca Jones Timber Company.  These are donors who generally stick to candidates they think have a real shot.

Should both candidates maintain current speed, this could be a sleeper race for this fall.
