The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released a new radio ad Monday tying U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton) with U.S. Sen. Ted Stevents (R-Alaska), who was indicted last week on charges of concealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of improper gifts.

“Smith has voted repeatedly for Stevens’ pet projects, including the 'Bridge to Nowhere,'” the ad says. “He’s wasted hundreds of millions of our tax dollars winking at corruption, wasteful spending and special interest influence. That’s how it works in Senator Smith’s cozy club.”

Smith had received $10,000 from Stevens for his re-election campaign this cycle, but after Stevens was indicted Smith said he was going to give the money to charity. In total he has received $39,000 from Stevens during his time in the Senate.

Smith's political action committee, Impact America, also gave money to Stevens to, including $10,000 shortly after it became public knowledge that Stevens was under investigation, according to Federal Election Commission files.
