OR-5: DCCC releases first ad in race

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released its first ad in the OR-5 congressional race Wednesday, listing several campaign controversies congressional candidate Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego) has endured throughout his political career.

The DCCC left no stone unturned, addressing faked endorsements, exaggerated resumes, and the 2004 trip to Cuba that Erickson said was humanitarian, but the Oregonian later revealed to be more of a vacation, according to trip organizers.

“Mike Erickson has not been honest with the people of Oregon,” DCCC spokesman Yoni Cohen said.

The ad also touches lightly upon Erickson’s position on abortion. During the primary, Erickson’s opponent, Kevin Mannix, revealed accusations that Erickson had paid for a girlfriends’ abortion in 2000. During the primary, Erickson had taken an anit-abortion stand.

Calls to Erickson’s campaign were not immediately returned.
