Latest poll shows Brown, Westlund ahead in statewide races

A poll released Friday shows that secretary of state candidate Kate Brown (D-Portland) and state treasurer candidate Ben Westlund (D-Tumalo) are both winning their respective racesstate treasurer.

According to the poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling, Brown has a double-digit lead over Rick Dancer (R-Springfield). Fifty-one percent of voters are backing the Portland state senator, while 40 percent are backing the Springfield journalist.  Nine percent of voters remain undecided in the race.

In the state treasurer’s race, 47 percent of voters are backing Westlund, while 41 percent of voters are backing his campaign rival Allen Alley (R-Lake Oswego). Twelve percent of voters remain undecided.

The survey was conducted on 1,424 likely Oregon voters between Oct. 28 and Oct. 30. The margin of error in the poll is +/- 2.6 percent.
