OR-5: Schrader to rally OSU students to get out the vote

Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) will be on the Oregon State University campus Monday to encourage students to get their ballots turned in before the deadline Tuesday.

OR-5 is the closest thing Oregon has to a swing district, but the Canby state senator has been surging in the polls. The most recent survey gives him a 24 percent lead in the polls against his campaign rival Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego). Erickson ran into several scandals, including accusations of paying for a former girlfriends’ abortion and misrepresenting a trip to Cuba as a “humanitarian mission” after he wrapped up the GOP nomination in May.

Both candidates are competing to replace outgoing Rep. Darlene Hooley (D-West Linn).
