Smith camp ‘feeling great’

Despite polls trending against their candidate, the mood at U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith’s (R-Pendleton) campaign headquarters on Tuesday morning remains upbeat as the campaign heads toward its final hours.

“We are feeling great,” Smith spokeswoman Lindsay Gilbride said. “We’re pushing hard to get out the vote!”

Gilbride said that Smith spent the morning doing media interviews before bringing his campaign volunteers juice and donuts to thank them for their hard work and get them excited for the last day. Republican volunteers throughout the state have been making phone calls urging Oregonians to get their ballots turned in on time, as well as making sure they cast a vote for the incumbent senator.

Smith will attend the election party hosted by the Oregon Republican Party in Portland on Tuesday night.
