Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote told PolitickerOR.com on Tuesday that although he was not actively pursuing a potential appointment to become Oregon’s next U.S. Attorney, he would be honored to receive a call inquiring about his interest in the position.

“I’m very flattered that anyone would mention my name for such an important position,” Foote said.

The U.S. Attorney, Oregon’s top law enforcement officer in the state, is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the president. The state’s Senators, however, play a role in recommendation process.

Foote said he was very happy in his job right now, and was not pursuing any opportunities to work with the Justice Department. But if he got a call from U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden’s (D-Portland) office in regards to being the next U.S. Attorney?

“I would be very flattered,” Foote said again.
