Oregon’s U.S. attorney candidate roundup: We’ll leave it at 6

After a week of no comments from prospective candidates for Oregon’s U.S. attorney position, PolitickerOR.com's list of possible appointees remains at six.

While two of the candidates that PolitickerOR.com spoke to refused to say if they were interested in the prospect of serving as state's federal prosecutor, they also refused to say that they weren’t interested in the position. So they will remain on the list of potential candidates.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton, who was added to the list of candidates shortly before Thanksgiving, refused to comment on his prospective candidacy Wednesday.

Portland lawyer Michael Simon told PolitickerOR.com on Thursday that he did not want to speculate about his, or anyone else’s candidacy.

Deputy Attorney General Pete Shepherd did not return PolitickerOR.com’s calls for comment.

Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote, Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson, and Clatsop County District Attorney Josh Marquis previously expressed some sort of interest in the position.
