The Democratic Party of Oregon elected two new committee members on Sunday to serve as Oregon’s representatives to the Democratic National Committee.
Oregon Dems voted in Lupita Mauer, the former chair of the Washington County Democrats, as one of the newest members of Oregon’s national committee. Mauer lives in Aloha.
Mike Radway, the treasurer for the DPO, also won election to represent the state at the national level. Radway lives in Portland.
Wayne Kinney, a field representative for U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Portland) won re-election to a third term as a national committee member. Kinney lives in Bend.
According to the DPO’s website, other candidates running for the position were Gulzar Ahmed, Laura Calvo, and Martha Perez.
DPO Chairwoman Meredith Wood Smith and DPO Vice Chair Frank Dixon will also be voting members of the national committee because of their leadership in Oregon’s Democratic Party.
The state’s Democrats are also represented by Gail Rassmussen, who was appointed to the committee by DNC Chairman Howard Dean.
The Democratic National Committee is made up of 450 members. Six of those members come from Oregon, and will be able to cast a vote on the next Democratic National Committee chairman, should Dean step down.
