The auto industy has been somewhat stingy toward Oregon lawmakers when it comes to campaign contributions, according to a report from the Center for Responsive Politics.

Not one Oregonian was listed among the top 20 of recipients of auto industry campaign contributions. Outgoing U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton) was the biggest beneficiary of auto industry campaign contributions. He received, according to a list from the Center for Responsive Politics. $57, 888.

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Portland) has also received $14,200 from the “Big Three.” U.S. Senator-elect Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) received $2,000. U.S. Reps. Greg Walden (R-Hood River), David Wu (D-Portland), Earl Blumenauer (D-Portland), and Darlene Hooley (D-West Linn) also received contributions totaling less than $10,000.

The industry gave to 358 candidates. Their contributions for the 2008 cycle totaled $16,063,956. Currently, they are asking for a $34 billion bailout.

U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) topped the list, receiving $1,101,552 from the industry. He was followed by former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who received $468,580. Romney was followed by President-elect Barack Obama, who received $432,050, then former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani who received $369,666. U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) rounded out the top five, receiving $302,566.
