Hunt predicts gubernatorial candidate for…2050

Most Oregon politicians are preoccupied with who will run in Oregon’s open gubernatorial seat in 2010, but Speaker of the House-elect Dave Hunt (D-Clackamas) offered a prediction for a much later Oregon Governor’s race when he addressed the Oregon Leadership summit on Thursday.

Hunt briefly mentioned his daughter Emily’s concerns about education, and made note of the fact that his daughter seemed rather politically adept despite being eight years old.

“I personally think she will run for governor one day,” Hunt said. “Fortunately, of my two children, she’s the one who’s a Democrat. My son is a Republican but he has no interest in running for office despite Bruce Hanna’s best efforts.”

According to his state house biography, Hunt’s son, Andrew, is 12.
