Klobuchar urges Salem voters to vote for Merkley

SALEM --U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) told attendees at DemoForum in Salem on Wednesday that in order for the Senate to pass significant legislation, they would need as many Democrats as possible, including U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley, (D-Portland) in the Senate chamber.

Klobuchar to campaign with Merkley Wednesday

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) will join Jeff Merkley on the campaign trail Wednesday to address the challenges that face Oregonian women.

Klobuchar and Merkley will talk with women leaders in Eugene about how President George W. Bush’s economic policies have hurt women, and then will continue to Salem to address the Marion County Democratic Party's demoforum.

The event in Eugene will start at 10 a.m. The one in Salem will start at noon.

Klobuchar: ‘There’s a big difference between Smith and Merkley’

DENVER -- U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) shrugged off her Senate colleague Gordon Smith's television ads that have touted his record of working with Democrats, saying that Democrats simply needed to elect more Democrats.

"People are going to do that, but I just think in Oregon there is a big difference between Gordon Smith and Jeff Merkley," Klobuchar said as she left the Oregon delegation breakfast.
