March Madness: Barack's tourney picks and Oregon's policy choices

With apologies to his brother-in-law, Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson, the President slammed the Pac-10. Filling out his bracket for ESPN, he declared that five of six Pac-10 teams in the NCAA tournament would lose in the first round. (And Washington in the second round.) In fact, he only picked five first-round upsets, and three of them feature favorites from the Pac-10 (Cal, UCLA, and Arizona State.) Robinson to address Obama volunteers in PDX

Craig Robinson, Oregon State University’s basketball coach and brother-in-law of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, will address campaign volunteers on behalf of Obama in Portland on Tuesday night.

According to Obama’s Oregon campaign, Robinson will headline a Portland volunteer appreciation event that will thank the volunteers for the phone banking, canvassing and other activities they have participated in to get as many Oregonians to return their ballots as possible.

OSU Basketball Coach takes center stage

Oregon State University’s head basketball coach Craig Robinson assured the Democratic National Convention Monday night that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has got game -- both on the basketball court, and in the political arena.

“He’s confident but not cocky, he’ll take the shot if he’s open, he’s a team player, and he won’t back down from any challenge,” Robinson said.

The first night of the Democratic National Convention in Denver will feature two Oregonians.

Craig Robinson, the older brother to Michelle Obama and Oregon State University men's basketball coach, will introduce his sister. After Obama's remarks, Don Miller of Portland -- the best-selling author and public speaker on Christian spirituality -- will say the benediction.

Robinson to speak at Dem National Convention

Oregon State University basketball coach Craig Robinson will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention, according to an announcement from convention organizers.

Robinson, who is entering his first season with the Beavers, will take the stage at the Pepsi Center on the night of Aug. 25 to introduce his sister, Michelle Obama. Obama, the wife of presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama (D-Ill.), will be the headline speaker that night.
