It's possible that for a great many of you who come here, that I have read or watched a lot of stuff you've never seen. My interest is in "how" Leftists get to where they have got, and how they create a system of thought and belief that is in such stark contrast to my system of thought and belief.

Hunt predicts gubernatorial candidate for…2050

Most Oregon politicians are preoccupied with who will run in Oregon’s open gubernatorial seat in 2010, but Speaker of the House-elect Dave Hunt (D-Clackamas) offered a prediction for a much later Oregon Governor’s race when he addressed the Oregon Leadership summit on Thursday.

Hunt briefly mentioned his daughter Emily’s concerns about education, and made note of the fact that his daughter seemed rather politically adept despite being eight years old.

State House announces new committee chairs

Speaker of the House Dave Hunt (D-Clackamas) released the Oregon State House committee assignments Thursday, and included one Republican as a subcommittee chair.

Rep. Bob Jenson (R-Pendleton) will serve as chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee of Ways and Means.

The rest of the assignments went to Democrats, who currently hold a 36-24 majority in the State House. Ten committees have new chairmen.

Buckley steps down, Kotek steps up as Majority Whip

State Rep. Tina Kotek (D-Portland) was named the new House Majority Whip on Monday, according to the House Democratic Caucus.

Kotek was elected assistant majority whip a few weeks ago during the caucus elections, but former Majority Whip Peter Buckley (D-Ashland), stepped down from the position in order to focus on his responsibilities as co-chair of the Ways and Means Committee.

SALEM -- Gov.  Ted Kulongoski unveiled a 2009 budget proposal on Monday that gives spending priority to education, health care and job creation. Republicans responded by saying the governor’s budget is based on tax increases that have not been passed yet.

House Democratic leadership blames Bush, looks to tackle state budget crisis

State House Democratic leaders blamed Oregon’s worsening economy on a bleaker national picture Wednesday and began prioritizing the state’s diminishing state budget to get through the economic crisis.

Hunt is next Speaker of the House

House Majority Leader Dave Hunt (D-Clackamas) was elected to be the next Speaker of the House on Saturday when House Democrats met to decide their leadership for the 2009 session.

Hunt will replace current House Speaker Jeff Merkley (D-Portland), who won election to the U.S. Senate on Thursday after defeating U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton).

Hanna: 'House Republicans will stand firmly behind her'

State House Republican Leader Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) responded harshly to House Majority leader Dave Hunt’s (D-Clackamas) assertion that fundraising actions taken by state Rep. Karen Minnis (R-Wood Village) to give money out of her campaign contributions to candidates that have hired her on as a consultant were possibly unethical.
