UPDATED: Weigler to direct Healthy Climate Partnership

Attorney General spokesman Jake Weigler is leaving Salem to become campaign manager for Healthy Climate Partnership, The Oregonian reported Friday.

Weigler, who managed U.S. Senate candidate Steve Novick’s Democratic primary campaign, will head the group that is looking to push Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s energy initiatives through the 2009 legislative session.

Heading to the stretch, Novick camp says it sees a path to victory

When veteran pollster Bob Meadow joined Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Steve Novick’s campaign last year, he had some concerns.

One was that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Meadow felt, was standing behind primary opponent Jeff Merkley, the Oregon House Speaker. The committee’s chair, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, had a way of pushing for what he wanted and Meadow feared that Schumer would find a way to push Novick aside.

Novick campaign responds to debate dates

The Novick campaign responds to the Democratic debate schedule, first reported here.

"The Novick campaign was very pleased to reach agreements on these four appearances" campaign manager Jake Weigler tells us. "But the four campaigns are continuing to discuss additional appearances - one in Salem and one on KATU that would allow all candidates to reach a television audience. We look forward to the successful conclusion of these negotiations."

Novick raises $210K in 4th quarter

The U.S. Senate campaign for Democrat Steve Novick tells PolitickerOR.com Tuesday that it raised about $210,000 in the fourth quarter, bringing the campaign’s total raised to date to over $500,000.

“We are pleased with this quarter’s performance, which represents a significant increase over the previous one,” Novick campaign manager Jake Weigler said. “We remain on track to run a competitive campaign in Oregon and make our case to the voters.”
