Will Day run for re-election as ORGOP Chair?

A spokeswoman for the Republican Party of Oregon would not confirm whether Republican Party of Oregon Chair Vance Day will seek the position again when his term expires in January.

“The Chairman has not yet announced his intentions,” ORGOP spokeswoman Brianne Hyder said. Hyder would not confirm or deny whether that meant Day was considering giving up the position. “It just means he has not yet announced his intentions,” she said.

OR-5: DCCC releases first ad in race

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released its first ad in the OR-5 congressional race Wednesday, listing several campaign controversies congressional candidate Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego) has endured throughout his political career.
 
The DCCC left no stone unturned, addressing faked endorsements, exaggerated resumes, and the 2004 trip to Cuba that Erickson said was humanitarian, but the Oregonian later revealed to be more of a vacation, according to trip organizers.

OR-5: Schrader wraps up two more endorsements

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Fifth Congressional District candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) snagged two more endorsements Wednesday in the OR-5 congressional race against Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego).

AG PAC and the Oregon Forest Industries Council said they would be backing Schrader, a state senator, for the general election in November. OFIC is a particularly noticeable endorsement for Schrader; the council actually backed former congressional candidate Kevin Mannix when he ran against Erickson in the Republican primary.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Former congressional candidate Kevin Mannix said Wednesday that the media’s coverage of vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter was out of line.

Former CD-5 congressional candidate Kevin Mannix was ecstatic on Friday morning that Republican presidential candidate John McCain (R-Ariz.) chose Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) as his running mate.

Mannix on presidential ticket: ‘McCain will choose Romney’

Former congressional candidate and Oregon delegate to the Republican National Convention Kevin Mannix predicted on Monday that Presidential nominee John McCain (R-Ariz.) would choose Mitt Romney as his vice presidential running mate.

“My speculation is Sen. McCain will choose Mitt Romney,” Mannix told PolitickerOR.com in a phone interview. “Based on Romney’s broad appeal to a broad conservative base, Romney is who he will choose.”
