Minnesota Senate Update: Two Princes who adore you

It's been awhile since we checked in on the yet unresolved U.S. Senate race in Minnesota between Democrat Al Franken and Republican incumbent Norm Coleman. I suspect that if the situation between the two were reversed, the Republican political theatre machine would have long since beaten Franken to a bloody pulp. As it is, this thing seems to fly under the radar most of the time. The court wrangling seems to me like its reached the point of epically stupid. DSCC drops $10.2 million in Oregon Senate race, more than doubling NRSC's $4.8 million

Both the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee have been big spenders in Oregon this election cycle, according to campaign finance numbers released by the Federal Elections Commission Wednesday.

Merkley camp calls on Smith to sever ties with robocall firm

Democratic Senate candidate Jeff Merkley’s campaign issued an “urgent action alert” to its supporters on Sunday after it discovered that U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith’s campaign has made payments to the company responsible for robocalls in several swing states that attack Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The campaign said it is on high alert after it discovered that Smith’s campaign had made payments to the company Feather, Larson, and Synhorst DCI for “telemarketing” purposes.

Merkley calls on Smith to return Stevens’ money

House Speaker and U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) called on Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton) to return the $39,000 in campaign donations that he has received during his political career from Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who was charged with bribery on Tuesday.

"Ted Stevens has been indicted on very serious ethical charges,” Merkley said. “These charges cast an ethical cloud on money he raised from oil companies and others, some of which he passed on to Gordon Smith."
