Pelosi rallies Schrader, Obama supporters in PDX

PORTLAND -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a rare visit to Oregon on Friday, swinging through the state to shore up support for congressional candidate Kurt Schrader and Barack Obama.

Pelosi made an afternoon speech billed as a “Women for Obama” event, and the House Speaker focused on issues including children’s health care, equal pay and a woman’s right to choose.

“Women are going to make all the difference in the world this election,” Pelosi said. “They will turn out for Barack Obama.”

Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) released his third campaign ad Tuesday touting his economic plan along with his blue-collar history and work ethic.

“This is a district where it’s blue collar folks that work hard,” Schrader says in the ad. “Many of them live and work on the land, just like I do with my family.”

OR-5: Schrader first in with 3Q numbers, collects $516K

U.S. Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) reported Wednesday that he has received a total of $516,585.49 in campaign contributions during the third quarter, according to reports from the Federal Election Commission.

The Canby state senator also reported he has $232,912.42 cash on hand. The cash on hand figures indicate how large a candidates war chest will be in the final 20 days of the general election campaign

OR-5: Erickson releases attack ad as Schrader racks up endorsements

Congressional candidate Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego) released his second ad attacking congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) for not paying his taxes Wednesday.

Schrader has been collecting newspaper endorsements from papers inside and outside of the fifth congressional district because of his record in the Oregon State Senate, but the ad warns voters that Schrader has only accomplished raising more taxes for more government programs during his years in Salem.

Oregonian endorses Schrader, Wu, Walden, Blumenauer, DeFazio

The Oregonian endorsed congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) in OR-5 Sunday, saying he was ready to serve Oregonians in Washington D.C.

“Voters in Oregon's 5th Congressional District have an easy choice to make in the November election: They should elect Kurt Schrader, the veterinarian and respected state senator from Canby,” the editorial board wrote. “Schrader is a conservative Democrat who built a reputation during his decade in the Legislature as a hard-nosed numbers cruncher and advocate for performance-based budgeting.”
