Oregon State House: 5 closest races

Republicans staved off an even bigger Democratic majority in the Oregon State House by pulling out three of the closest victories in the state, according to official election results released by the Secretary of State’s office.

However, Democrats pulled out two close wins in House Districts 51 and 52, which had been Republican seats during the last cycle.

SD-20: Martha Schrader interested in taking over husband’s senate seat

Clackamas County Commissioner Martha Schrader (D-Canby) told PolitickerOR.com on Tuesday that she was interested in pursuing the State Senate seat being vacated by her husband, incoming U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader.

Mrs. Schrader said that she was going to be reaching out to the county’s precinct committee people regarding issues that were important to the senate district, as well as touching base with them on what they wanted to see from their future state senator in Salem.

SD-20: Forsberg interested in Schrader’s seat

State House candidate Toby Forsberg (D-Oregon City) has not officially lost the race against State House candidate Bill Kennemer (R-Oregon City), but Forsberg expressed interest in Friday in being appointed to replace outgoing State Sen. Kurt Schrader (D-Canby).

“I am interested in the seat and have been encouraged to look at it,” Forsberg said in a voicemail to PolitickerOR.com.

HD-39: Kennemer pulls ahead of Forsberg for House seat

House Democrats may have been celebrating a 37-seat majority a little early.

State House candidate Bill Kennemer (R-Oregon City) pulled ahead of State House candidate Toby Forsberg on Thursday in the HD-39 race.

Kennemer is currently leading by 203 votes, with 13,000 votes still to count, according to The Oregonian.
