Rendell says McCain will announce running mate Friday in Pa… and it won’t be Ridge

[img_assist|nid=1255|title=Gov. Ed Rendell|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=220|height=225]DENVER--During his opening remarks to the Pennsylvania delegation to the Democratic convention here this morning, Gov. Ed Rendell shared what he said was presumptive Republican nominee John McCain's plans for announcing his running mate.

Rendell said that McCain, a U.S. senator from Arizona, would reveal his running mate Friday in Washington, Pa. He said that former Gov. Tom Ridge, whose name had been floated as a possible vice president for McCain, would make the introduction, and that he would not be the pick.

A McCain campaign spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
