Biden jokes that being picked as running mate was Rendell's doing

DENVER--For weeks, Gov. Ed Rendell could be seen on television lobbying for his good friend U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) to be chosen as U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) running mate.

And while Rendell had no formal contact with the Obama campaign on the matter, early into his speech to the Pennsylvania delegation here this morning, Biden joked that Rendell had made it happen.

"I called him a couple times and said 'Ed, this isn’t something I’m looking for,'" Biden recalled. "[Rendell said, ‘it’s something you’re going to get.'"

"Ed, this is all your fault," Biden said to laughter and applause.
