Flush with cash and largely unopposed, Brady helps out Dems

U.S. Rep. Bob Brady (D-Philadelphia) has access to loads of campaign cash as chairman of the city's Democratic Party. But with reelection as sure a thing as any, Brady is spreading the money around.

He faces Republican Mike Muhammad in an overwhelmingly Democratic 1st Congressional District, and Muhammad has largely been a no-show on the campaign trail.

So Brady, who according to a third quarter campaign finance report published Wednesday has $344,000 in cash on hand, forked over $50,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

He also gave $8,000 to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and $500 to the Delaware County Democrats, the report shows.
