Rural turnout exceeding expectations in the 10th?

A source close to the campaign for GOP congressional candidate Chris Hackett has told PolitickerPA.com that voter turnout in the conservative rural areas of the 10th Congressional District has exceeded expectations.

Turnout as of 11:15 a.m. has been over 40 percent in some of the campaign's "key precincts," the source said.

If true, that's good news for Hackett, who faces an uphill Election Day battle against U.S. Rep. Chris Carney (D-Dimock). The latest polling available to the public shows the first-term congressman leading by double-digits.

Reports across the state have universally said early morning voter turnout has been jaw-dropping.
