Harper projected to easily retain seat in HD-61

PLYMOUTH MEETING--State Rep. Kate Harper (R-Lower Gwynedd) was projected to easily dispatch Democrat Frank Custer Tuesday night, allowing Montgomery County Republicans to hold onto a seat that Democrats had hotly-contested.

With all precincts reporting in the 61st Legislative District, Harper had 12-point edge over Custer, beating him by more than 4,000 votes.

Though Harper could not be reached late Tuesday, Custer congratulated her in a brief interview here with PolitickerPA.com.

"I'm disappointed, but there's a winner and a loser in every race," he said. "I congratulate Mrs. Harper. We had some substantial differences in this campaign. It was a hard fought race and she won."
