Washington powerhouses lobbying Dahlkemper for vote

It didn't take long for Congresswoman-elect Kathy Dahlkemper to be put in the middle of a Capitol Hill power struggle.

The day after Dahlkemper defeated U.S. Rep. Phil English (R-Erie), The New York Times reported she received a call from U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), who asked for her support as he tries to supplant U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Just a few hours later, the paper reported, she received a call from U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pittsburgh), who asked her to support Dingell.

“That’s very interesting,” Dahlkemper said. “All of this completely surprised me.”
