Pennsylvania Democrats are trying to do their part to give their party a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.

State party Executive Director Mary Isenhour sent an email Monday asking Pennsylvania Democrats to make get-out-the-vote phone calls on behalf of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jim Martin, who will face U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) in a closely contested runoff election Tuesday.

"It's so cool when we come together as Democrats and help each other out, and now we have the chance to come together and help our Democratic friends in Georgia," Isenhour wrote. "I'll be on the telephone making GOTV calls tonight -- won't you join me?"

Democrats are trying to give themselves a filibuster-proof 60-member majority in the Senate. They have 58 members now while awaiting the outcome of Martin's race and the recount in Minnesota between Democrat Al Franken and Republican Norm Coleman.
