Scarnati, even without COLA, getting big pay bump

Despite saying Wednesday that he will forgo a scheduled 2.8 percent raise to his salary, newly sworn-in Lieutenant Governor Joe Scarnati will be getting a significant pay bump because of his new gig, reports Commonwealth Confidential.

Scarnati will accept the lieutenant governor's salary, which is $142,924. That's $20,670 more than his salary as President Pro Temp of the Senate.

The Philadelphia Inquirer political blog reported the last lawmaker to serve as head of the state Senate and lieutenant governor, Bob Jubelirer, also took the higher salary.
