Schwartz still staying mum on possible Senate run

NEW YORK-U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Abington) is staying largely silent about whether and when she will consider a 2010 Senate run against Republican incumbent Arlen Specter.

"I love the work I'm doing in Congress," Schwartz told PolitickerPA.com during U.S. Sen. Bob Casey's (D-Pa.) party here Friday night.

Schwartz is one of several southeast Pennsylvania Democrats said to be mulling a Senate run. But she has steadfastly refrained from discussing it in public, focusing instead on her role on the powerful House Ways & Means Committee and the policy battles to come.

"There's a lot of work to be done and I'm in a fantastic role ... to have an influence in shaping the policies of the new administration," Schwartz said.
