Nutter: ‘I have feelings like everybody else’

The bad news kept coming right up to the end of 2008 for Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, when a local judge blocked his much-maligned plans to close 11 libraries. The financial crisis has shot a hole in the city's budget and brought the end of his political honeymoon.

And in what seems to be turning into a weekly routine, news reports keep chronicling his fall from political rock star to, well, regular politician.

The latest comes from The Inquirer, which looks back at Nutter's first year in office and includes this candid quote about how the growing criticism has affected the mayor.

"I may be mayor, but I'm still human," Nutter says. "I mean, I have feelings like everybody else."
