Report: Evans, Abraham and Torsella also interested in Senate run

Add a few more names to the list of candidates considering a run against U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in 2010.

State Democratic party executive director Mary Isenhour tells The Morning Call that Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham, National Constitution Center CEO Joe Torsella and state Rep. Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia) are all interested in the race.

Rendell ‘skeptical’ about DePasquale’s bill on Senate appointments

It's highly unlikely that Gov. Ed Rendell will ever have the chance the fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat before he leaves office in two years. But that doesn't mean he supports state Rep. Eugene DePasquale's proposed legislation to strip the governor of that power altogether.

"We believe that the Representative's proposal is a solution in search of a problem," Rendell spokesman Chuck Ardo told PolitickerPA.com Thursday.

State Rep. Mike Gerber (D-Whitpain) will remain the chairman of the Southeast Delegation to the state House, one of several leadership moves the delegation made Thursday.
