Ethics Board sued over debt

The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court last week heard a case concerning the significant debt - including $448,468 worth of legal fees - that U.S. Rep. Bob Brady incurred while running for mayor two years ago.

Flush with cash and largely unopposed, Brady helps out Dems

Rendell, Brady, Fattah, other big names headline Fumo witness list

Gov. Ed Rendell, U.S. Reps Bob Brady and Chaka Fattah, and even former 76ers coach Larry Brown are just some of the big names on state Sen. Vince Fumo's (D-Philadelphia) list of potential witnesses for his looming federal corruption trial.

The witness list, reported by The Inquirer and The Daily News, names 267 people who could potentially be called to testify at Fumo's trial, which now starts in less than a month.

Brady joins swarm of superdelegates in backing Obama

With superdelegates moving all day to back U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for the Democratic presidential nomination, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady (D-Philadelphia) has finally tossed in his support as well, The Boston Globe reports.

Television networks and other news organizations were projecting that Obama had secured enough delegates even before polls closed in South Dakota, which along with Montana held the long contest's last primaries today.

Some Philly races just not up for grabs

Republicans who run for office in the staunchly Democratic city of Philadelphia are often called sacrificial lambs, providing their time to campaign even though registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 5-1.

Al Taubenberger, the Republican who was thumped by Michael Nutter in last year's mayoral race, admitted as much, often saying he was running to make Nutter a better mayor-and to send a message about the lack of a two-party system in Philadelphia.

U.S. Rep. Brady pushing House superdelegates
