Pa. Democratic delegation 'got shafted,' report says

Pennsylvania Avenue reports Thursday that Pennsylvania's Democratic congressional delegation didn't receive any promotions to a high-profile committee.

Fifteen positions were open for seats on the Ways & Means, Energy and Commerce, and Appropriations committees. Three reps., Patrick Murphy, Chris Carney and Jason Altmire, were pursuing the seats, but each was passed over.

Rural turnout exceeding expectations in the 10th?

A source close to the campaign for GOP congressional candidate Chris Hackett has told PolitickerPA.com that voter turnout in the conservative rural areas of the 10th Congressional District has exceeded expectations.

Turnout as of 11:15 a.m. has been over 40 percent in some of the campaign's "key precincts," the source said.

Freedom's Watch targets Kanjorski, Carney

Poll reports Carney up double-digits, though many voters remain undecided

U.S. Rep. Chris Carney (D-Dimock) has a 14-point edge over Republican opponent Chris Hackett, according to a poll released Thursday by Franklin & Marshall College.

He leads 39 percent to 25 percent among registered voters, the poll finds, and 48 percent to 33 percent when leaning but undecided voters are included. Eighteen percent of voters are "completely undecided," the poll reports.

Carney, Altmire stick to opposition of bailout

The two vulnerable House Democrats from Pennsylvania who voted against the first version of the bailout bill held strong in their opposition Friday, casting no votes on an amended Senate bill that passed the House.

Both U.S. Reps. Chris Carney (D-Dimock) and Jason Altmire (D-D-McCandless) voted against the legislation. Both are facing tough reelection battles in conservative-leaning districts.

Carney faces Republican Chris Hackett in the 10th Congressional District, while Altmire is being challenged by Melissa Hart in the 4th Congressional District.
