Like fish in a barrel

Lawrence O'Donnell is guest hosting for Chris Matthews on Hardball today and he had this woman (beginning of video - "I don't want this country turning into Russia... turning into a socialized country."..."You have awakened a sleeping giant." "What are you going to do to restore this country to what the founders intended according to the Constitution" she says.) on as his guest:

Her name is 'Katy Abram. The apostrophe is not a typo by me -- either it's Hardball's or that's how she spells her name (I'm hoping it's the latter as she did remind me of a none-to-self-aware character in the movie LA Story who as she's writing her name on Steve Martin's hand spells it out loud for him, "SanDeE*, Big S, little A, little N, Big D, little E, Big E.

Interesting Point...

From Stanley Fish.

After some background on Henry Louis Gates at Duke University:
As the story unfolded in the press and on the Internet, I flashed back 20 years or so to the time when Gates arrived in Durham, N.C., to take up the position I had offered him in my capacity as chairman of the English department of Duke University. One of the first things Gates did was buy the grandest house in town (owned previously by a movie director) and renovate it. During the renovation workers would often take Gates for a servant and ask to be pointed to the house’s owner.

Looking back at months of ‘Hardball’ speculation

He hemmed. He hawed. He hedged. He had political watchers parsing his every word.

For months MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews had the Pennsylvania political world wondering if he would run for Senate in 2010. He strung us along, meeting with political insiders, going soft on Pennsylvania politicians on his show and even reportedly looking for a house in Philadelphia.

It’s final: Matthews isn’t running for Senate

The speculation can finally end. Chris Matthews won't be making a Senate run in 2010.

Two days after PolitickerPA.com reported that Matthews' brother was almost sure the MSNBC commentator wouldn't run against Republican Arlen Specter, The Times reports that Matthews told his staff Wednesday night he won't be entering the race.

Brother would be 'stunned beyond words' if Chris Matthews ran for Senate

Stop speculating: Chris Matthews isn't running for U.S. Senate. At least that's what his brother told PolitickerPA.com.

Jim Matthews was left with that strong impression after speaking with the MSNBC host when he returned from a two-week vacation in Jamaica.

"There's no hint of him running for office," Jim Matthews told PolitickerPA.com in an interview Monday. "That's 1,000 percent true."
