"Stupak" makes it in to the Urban Dictionary

Does "stupak" mean:
"A medical condition (subset of sepsis) resulting from unsafe - unnecessarily so - back alley abortions as a result of the "Stupak Amendment" to the 2009 Health Care Reform Bill."Or is it:
adj: imposing religious beliefs of one group on another, especially through legislation or financial pressure.How about:
To do something ridiculous, silly, moronic, stupid, asinine, idiotic, etc.You can vote up your favorite definition here.

Personally, I'm torn between the first two defintions, but for this post, I want to remind everyone that here in Western PA we have three very stupak Democrats:

Mike Doyle, Jason Altmire and John Murtha all voted for the Stupak Amendment.

Murtha's seniority continues to rise

The dean of Pennsylvania's congressional delegation, U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-Johnstown), continues climbing Washington's rungs of power.

After swearing in today, Murtha will be the eighth-most senior U.S. House member and the 12th-most senior member in Congress, reports The Tribune-Democrat Monday.

Knoll honored as compassionate, tough

HARRISBURG -- The late Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll was remembered at her state funeral Friday as a "transformational" figure who not only cared for all of Pennsylvania's citizens but had the strength to ceaselessly advocate for their needs.

An array of state and national officials gathered in the Capitol rotunda to honor Knoll, who died last week after a four-month battle with cancer. Her casket, carried in to the Capitol and draped in an American flag, will lie in the rotunda until 2 p.m. Saturday.

Russell, banking on different climate, to run again in 2010

HARRISBURG -- Just eight days after Election Day, Bill Russell says he's ready for round two against U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-Johnstown).

The Republican congressional candidate, who received a late avalanche of attention of attention in his race against the 34-year incumbent before ultimately falling by 16 points, told PolitickerPA.com Tuesday that he plans to run again in 2010.

"I'm running for the same seat again," he said, although he added he hasn't officially declared.

Russell fires back at Murtha, Clinton

JOHNSTOWN -- Republican GOP candidate Bill Russell said at a press conference Monday that U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-Johnstown) has used lies and fear to try and hold onto voters in the 12th Congressional District.
