Gerber heads SE delegation leadership picks

State Rep. Mike Gerber (D-Whitpain) will remain the chairman of the Southeast Delegation to the state House, one of several leadership moves the delegation made Thursday.

The delegation, which has 26 members, elected state Reps. Bryan Lentz (D-Swarthmore) and Rick Taylor (D-Ambler) as vice chairs. State Rep. Eugene DePasquale (D-York) was elected treasurer and state Rep. John Galloway (D-Bucks) was elected secretary.

Sturla beats out Gerber for Democratic policy chair

HARRISBURG -- State Rep. Mike Sturla (D-Lancaster County) has beat out state Rep. Mike Gerber (D-Montgomery County) for House Democratic policy chair.

If Tuesday's leadership elections are any indication, the policy chair position is prime ground to move on to higher positions. Each of this election cycle's two policy chairs, state reps. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny County) and Todd Eachus (D-Luzerne County) moved up the leadership pecking order Tuesday. Turzai is now minority whip, Eachus was elected majority leader.

Leach, Gerber supporters in festive mood

CONSHOHOCKEN--When the first network called Ohio for Barack Obama, it was like the Phillies had won the World Series all over again at the Great American Pub here.

Cheers of delight went up, and the crowd was buoyed.

Supporters of state Reps. Daylin Leach (D-Upper Merion) and Mike Gerber (D-Whitpain) were gathering for a party here, and early returns were making them happy. Gerber was not expected to be seriously challenged by Republican Matt Maguire in the 148th Legislative District.
