Report: Evans, Abraham and Torsella also interested in Senate run

Add a few more names to the list of candidates considering a run against U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in 2010.

State Democratic party executive director Mary Isenhour tells The Morning Call that Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham, National Constitution Center CEO Joe Torsella and state Rep. Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia) are all interested in the race.

Brother would be 'stunned beyond words' if Chris Matthews ran for Senate

Stop speculating: Chris Matthews isn't running for U.S. Senate. At least that's what his brother told PolitickerPA.com.

Jim Matthews was left with that strong impression after speaking with the MSNBC host when he returned from a two-week vacation in Jamaica.

Murphy ‘honored’ people want him to run for Senate

NEW YORK-Fresh off his freshman reelection bid, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy didn't tip his hand when asked Friday night whether or not he will make a Senate run in 2010.

"I'm focused on my job," Murphy, who represents the 8th Congressional District, said during U.S. Sen. Bob Casey's (D-Pa.) party here. "I'm honored that people are encouraging me."

Pa. pols knock back a few with Casey

NEW YORK -- U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) had a smorgasbord of high-profile political guests at his party here Friday night, as the Pennsylvania Society weekend got off to a festive start.

On the second floor of The W Hotel in midtown Manhattan, members of the state's Congressional delegation, state lawmakers and business leaders were in attendance. U.S. Reps. Patrick Murphy (D-Bristol), Allyson Schwartz (D-Abington) and Paul Kanjorski (D-Nanticoke) were there too. Kanjorski, fresh off his come-from-behind re-election win, would not be interviewed.

Pa. Democratic delegation 'got shafted,' report says

Pennsylvania Avenue reports Thursday that Pennsylvania's Democratic congressional delegation didn't receive any promotions to a high-profile committee.

Fifteen positions were open for seats on the Ways & Means, Energy and Commerce, and Appropriations committees. Three reps., Patrick Murphy, Chris Carney and Jason Altmire, were pursuing the seats, but each was passed over.

Sestak linked to Navy Secretary job, not Senate

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak has been linked to the job of Navy Secretary in President-elect Barack Obama's administration, according to a report on DOD Buzz, an online Defense and Acquisition Journal.

Sestak, a former admiral, has also been mentioned as a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010. He easily won re-election this fall.

P. Murphy reportedly also considering Senate run

State Rep. Josh Shapiro (D-Montgomery County), U.S. Reps. Allyson Schwartz and Joe Sestak, and, of course, MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews have all been rumored as potential Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate race in 2010.
