Jack Kelly Sunday

Now THIS is interesting.

This week's column, by Jack Kelly, seems to be in two versions. There's the first published over at the Toledo Blade and a second edited version published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Here's the opening in Toledo:
WHAT were President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder thinking when they decided to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the chief architect of the 9/11 attacks, and four other al-Qaeda bigwigs in a civilian court in New York City?

From the standpoint of politics, this decision makes no sense. According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Monday, only 34 percent of Americans support the decision to try the al-Qaeda leaders in a federal district court.

Health Care Reform Bill Passes in the House -- Blue Dogs, Republicans and Spineless Dems Throw Women Under the Bus

The Stupak Amendment to the Health Care Reform bill in the House of Representatives passed with 240 yeas, 194 nays and 1 present vote.

What does that mean?

It means that women have been singled out to be the only class of people to actually lose coverage under the HCR bill.

While Rep. Bart Stupak (D, He-Man-Women-Haters-Club) claimed that the his amendment would just ensure that no federal funds would pay for abortion, that is just a BIG FAT LIE. There is already the Hyde Amendment which says no Federal funds can be used to pay for abortions except in the case of rape, incest, or life of the woman.

Conservapedia's Terminator Jesus©

Conservapedia's efforts to re-translate the Christian Bible to remove "corruption by liberal bias" and the "emasculation of Christianity" and to explain "the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning" reminds me of something that I wrote back in 2004 when I was blogging as Liz Adobe at the Honsberger is a Liar blog:
Terminator Jesus© is in charge of the good old US of A and he's taking names and kicking ass! (You can forget that old pussy, liberal "Sermon on the Mount" Jew because we have the new action-packed Terminator Jesus©.)You can read the whole thing here.

Henry Kissinger, War Criminal

Hey, did you know that Henry Kissinger was in town yesterday? He said something Jack Kelly wouldn't like (I think - I still can't make heads or tails out of this column). Anyway here's the Trib on Henry's visit:
President Obama should heed the advice of top military advisers and send more troops to Afghanistan, but the United States needs to focus less on setting up a strong central government there, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said during an appearance at Heinz Hall Monday night.
And this is how he's described:
Kissinger served as secretary of State to Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford during one of the most tumultuous periods in recent U.

Questions and comments on the use of force by Pittsburgh Police around the G-20 Summit

1. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano named the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh a "National Special Security Event" (NSSE). What were the parameters of this event? When did it officially end? Did the event only extend to the secured areas around the convention center or did it include the Oakland neighborhood and the rest of Pittsburgh?

2. The City of Pittsburgh availed itself of thousands of non Pittsburgh Police, state police, National Guard and the Coast Guard. Exactly when did their employment by the City end?

3. The City of Pittsburgh used of a Long Range Acoustic Device (know as a sound cannon) at last week's G20 protests ("the first time the sound cannon had been used publicly" or should that be against the public --US citizens on US soil).

More Bleating From Santorum About Running For Prez

Lil Ricky is at it again.

From LifeSiteNews.com:
Speaking to a room full of prominent US Catholic leaders Friday night, Senator Rick Santorum was challenged to run for the Republican Presidential nominaion. Responding to a room already thick with applause, Santorum revealed that he was indeed "thinking about it" but asked for prayers and detailed his thinking on the matter.

[snip]

"...as a father, I've got to think about whether they are going to have a country to live in … Are they going to be able to practice their faith in a way that's consistent with what the Church teaches."

[snip]

In closing he said that while he was "thinking about it", it is the first time his ambition which is, as he said, "in his DNA" was checked by a resistance saying, "no, I'm not sure.

America, What A Country!

This from the Telegraph in the UK:
A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.
Only in America.
Creation, starring Paul Bettany, details Darwin's "struggle between faith and reason" as he wrote On The Origin of Species. It depicts him as a man who loses faith in God following the death of his beloved 10-year-old daughter, Annie.

The film was chosen to open the Toronto Film Festival and has its British premiere on Sunday.

Jerry Bowyer on Night Talk

Watching the 10:00 rerun.

10:22pm

Jerry Bowyer thinks there ARE euthanasia issues found in the Health Care Bill.

Jerry said that Sarah Palin "was sort of on to something" on the "death panel" issue.

10:28

Jerry thinks that the solution is found in giving vouchers to the 5 million households that are chronically uninsured. There are really only 15 million uninsured in the US.

A Fallacious Argument

I want everyone to take a look at Jerry Bowyer's latest article in the National Review Online.

Before I get into analyzing it, I have to admit that Jerry's article disappointed. I used to listen to him on the radio all the time. While I agreed with about 1% of what he said, I was also greatly admiring his intellect and his obvious depth of reading. He's a very smart guy and you DON'T want to tangle with him unless you've done your homework very very well. If you don't prepare, you'll loose and be out the door before you even knew what happened.

Just How Stupid ARE The Birthers?

From a poll from Public Policy Polling.

First off how many "birthers" are there?
The answer is that 62% of Americans think Obama was born here, while 24% think he was not and 14% are unsure.
So 38% are ignorant of the fact that Obama was born in the US.

PPP breaks down that 38% into:
10% of the country thinks that he was born in Indonesia, 7% think he was born in Kenya, and 1% think he was born in the Philippines.

That leaves 20%, which includes at least some people who correctly believe that Obama was born in Hawaii, but who don't consider Hawaii to be part of the United States.
