Vince Fumo's former longtime lawyer and friend, Richard A. Sprague, testified yesterday at Fumo's federal corruption trial that he "doubted the truth" of Fumo's claims that a lawyer had told the then-state senator that he could destroy e-mails during a federal probe as long as he had not been given a subpoena.

Prosecutor labels contract of ex-Fumo aide a sham

A former Senate contractor who the government says did mostly campaign work for Vince Fumo testified on cross-examination yesterday at the former state senator's federal corruption trial that he signed a lucrative Senate contract in 2002 and 2003 even though he testified the terms of the contract were "inaccurate."
