Who’s Really Behind Dogs Against Romney?

Throughout his quest for the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney has been haunted by the infamous tale of the time he put his dog on the roof of his car during a long road trip and Dogs Against Romney, a protest group dedicated to keeping the story at the forefront of the campaign conversation. In the past month, Dogs Against Romney garnered a dramatic surge of attention. However, while much of the coverage of Dogs Against Romney characterized the group as a purely grassroots movement, its recent notoriety got a substantial boost from the behind-the-scenes support of Americans United for Change, a super PAC-like group with extensive ties to the Democratic establishment.

Dogs Against Romney spokeswoman Kitty Hendrix admitted the group's much talked about protest outside the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in Manhattan last Tuesday was planned and executed with a discreet push from AUC.

"They basically wanted more grassroots people with dogs to talk about this issue, because it just made sense. It’s always suspect when someone is a professional political operative getting in front of the camera trying to pull emotional content out of anyone," Ms. Hendrix said. "People are always a little more suspect of that." Read More

Canine-Loving Protesters Dog Mitt Romney Outside Westminster Kennel Club Show

A small group of protesters and a pair of pups inspired a media frenzy in front of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show at Madison Square Garden today. The demonstrators were assisted by the liberal political consultancy Americans United for Change under the umbrella of the group, "Dogs Against Romney," which was created after the Boston Globe published a 2007 profile of the perennial Republican presidential candidate revealing he put his Irish Setter, Seamus, on the roof of the family station wagon for a twelve hour road trip from Boston to his vacation home in Canada. "You hold too many bizarre opinions for me to enumerate," the speech said.

Occupy Tacoma claims two protesters were arrested and one was tased while "protecting" the woman who attempted to read the speech.

Eric Cantor: ‘I’ve Not Seen The Willingness On The Other Side To Compromise’

Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has earned a reputation among Democrats as "Dr. No," an uncompromising politician who's been a major force behind the gridlock in Washington this past year. In a Q&A session with reporters after his speech at this morning's ABNY breakfast, Mr. Cantor said he thinks the Democrats are the ones who aren't willing to cooperate.

"I've not seen the willingness on the other side to compromise and it is always two things; spend more and raise taxes for them, and what we're saying is, stop, we don't have the money to spend, and let's help people and let's help the small businesses," Mr. Cantor said in response to a question from The PolitickerRead More

Rick Santorum Accuses Obama Of Attacking Hydrofracking

WASHINGTON -- Rick Santorum called the anti hydrofracking is part of the left's larger strategy of trying to "scare you into supporting radical ideas on the environment" during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference today.

"I come from Pennsylvania, we're doing a little bit of that in Pennsylvania, thank God," Mr. Santorum said.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is currently working with the Department of Environmental Conservation to come up with rules to regulate and allow hydrofracking in New York after lifting a statewide ban on the controversial natural gas drilling technique last summer.

Mr. Santorum went on to accuse the Obama administration is "going after" the controversial natural gas drilling technique by trying to paint it as "a bogeyman." Mr. Santorum didn't explain exactly how President Obama, who expressed support for the procedure in his State of the Union address last month, is attacking hydrofracking.
