N.O.M. is targeting Mark Grisanti and other State Senators.

N.O.M. Targets N.Y. Lawmakers

The National Organization for Marriage is sending out $150,000 worth of mailings targeting a handful of state senators who voted to legalize same-sex marriage, the group said.

Targets of the mailing are the Republicans who voted for it, and the Democrats who supported the bill this year after opposing it in 2009: Republican Senators Mark Grisanti, Roy McDonald, James Alesi and Stephen Saland, and Democratic Senators Shirley Huntley, Joseph Addabbo and Carl Kruger. The Outer-Borough, Long Island Push for Same-Sex Marriage [Video]

The Human Rights Campaign released a video featuring a Long Island fireman expressing his support for marriage.

And at 1:30 this afternoon, same-sex marriage advocates will rally outside of Borough Hall in Queens, the borough where two Democratic State Senators -- Joe Addabbo Jr. and Shirley Huntley -- voted against the bill in the past and have remained uncommitted so far.

Subtlety underscoring that the bill would not force religious institutions to recognize these marriages, the fireman in the ad says that gay and lesbian couples "should be able to go to city hall and get a marriage license. Nothing more, nothing less." [Video after the jump] Read More
