GOP corruption accusations make national news

The Washington state gubernatorial race got some more national attention Wednesday when FOX News Special Report reported on the conflict of interest allegations being made by some state Republicans over Gov. Chris Gregoire's negotiations with the Service Employees International Union while they help sponsor television ads that attack Dino Rossi, and large donations from some state tribes to the state Democratic Party. Both negotiations, as the report mentions, were deemed legal by Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna.

Rossi himself was interviewed on the program, where he raised the idea of corruption by the state's majority party.

"When you have one party," Rossi told FOX, "whether it is Republican or Democrat, that is in power so long you end up with the appearance of institutional corruption, and that is what this looks like."

Steele reads into Jesse Jackson's vulgar comments about Obama

Says Obama Effectively Reversed 'The Race Card' On Clinton

Michael Steele

Yesterday on the Fox News Channel, former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R) weighed in on the Rev. Jesse Jackson's vulgar, unwittingly public comments about his frustration with Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)

Jackson, having been miked shortly before appearing on Fox News on Wednesday, made the comments while unaware that he was being recorded.

"See, Barack's been, um, talking down to black people on this faith based. he said. 'I want to cut his [EXPLETIVE DELETED] off. Barack -- he's talking down to black people."

Jackson offered an apology for the statement when he learned that Fox News would be airing it.

Appearing opposite of the Rev. Al Sharpton on the 'Hannity and Colmes' progam, Steele said that while he feels really bad for Jackson, who he described as "a good friend," he added, " The real question is why did he think that?"

Dukakis: 'Obama, not McCain, is the conservative'

On Fox News, The Duke Weighs In On '08

Former Gov. Michael Dukakis: Getty ImagesFormer Gov. Mike Dukakis has a few pieces of advice to offer to Barack Obama.

The 1988 Democratic presidential nominee appeared on Fox News' 'Hannity and Colmes' this evening and had a very general discussion about the 2008 presidential contest with Democrat Alan Colmes and his Republican guest host, former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele.

Steele pressed Dukakis on what he perceived to be Obama's greatest weakness: the 'most liberal senator' label from the National Journal's 2007 rankings. An identical rating of 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry was a constant bother throughout his campaign.

But Dukakis brushed aside such concerns, replying, "I don't think [the label] really means anything," as the "fiscal irresponsibility" and other policies of George W. Bush's administration leave the Republicans with no claim to the 'conservative' mantle.

Fox News strikes again! This time with initials.

Tuesday night watching the primary returns from Kentucky and Oregon, I flipped from cable channel to cable channel. Then I reached Fox News. The crawl showed the results with exit poll info on the side.

Then I noticed that both Democratic candidates were labeled by their initials in contrast to McCain who they just used "Mac."

Fox News thinks Lincoln debated Frederick Douglass, not Stephen Douglas

Can you tell the difference between these two men? Because Fox News can't.Can you tell the difference between these two men? Because Fox News can't.Hillary Clinton garnered some media attention last week when she challenged Obama to a "Lincoln-Douglas" style debate.
