Where did Peter go wrong?
By johncoby@sbcglobal.net (John Coby), Bay Area HoustonAfter spending over $3 Million, Peter Brown came in 3rd place to Gene Locke and Annise Parker in the race for Houston Mayor. I am sure many, including Rick Casey of the Houston Chronicle, will analyze what happened and why it happened. So here is my two sense.
Peter actually ran a pretty good TV and mail campaign focusing on a clear message: He has a blueprint for Houston. And with $3 Million at his disposal, he was able to repeat this message over and over and over.....and over, which is the perfect blueprint for getting peoples attention. Unfortunately it did not turn into enough votes.

GENE LOCKE FOR MAYOR OF HOUSTON
PETER BROWN FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY THAT YOU CAN NOT BUY THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES VOTE, NOR CAN YOU TELL OVERT LIES TO HOUSTONIANS ABOUT GENE LOCKE. HOUSTONIANS ARE HIGHLY INTELLIGENT AND INFORMED VOTERS. HOUSTONIANS KN0W THAT GENE LOCKE HAS THE MOST EXPERIENCE, AND BRIGHTEST AND CLEAREST VISION FOR THE CITY OF HOUSTON.
GENE LOCKE WILL BRING GOOD PAYING JOBS TO HOUSTON AND LOWER TAXES. GENE LOCKE WILL LOWER TAXES WITHOUT LAYING OFF CITY WORKERS.
GENE LOCKE WILL BUILD THE FIRST HISPANIC MUSEUM IN HOUSTON.
