Ethics complaint filed against C.O. Bradford
By johncoby@sbcglobal.net (John Coby), Bay Area HoustonAn ethics complaint has been filed with the Texas Ethics Commission against Candidate for Houston City Council At Large Position 4, C.O. Bradford. As stated in a previous post, because of the new rules adopted by the Texas Legislature to protect the members of the Legislature, if this complaint is dismissed the complainant could be liable for Bradford's legal fees.
Even without this rule, there has been little if any enforcement of ethics laws during the last 30 days of a campaign. Candidates could falsify their reports, accept illegal donations, or do just about anything, and no one would hold them accountable. Complaints filed during this period are now subject to penalties against the person filing the complaint.
