Why a Democrat should challenge Jerry Eversole

City Council Member Toni Lawrence has decided not to challenge ethically challenged Jerry Eversole. Why?
"We have a lot of mutual friends, we really do, and it was really tough on a lot of those mutual friends," Lawrence said. "It was putting pressure on those people of who they were going to support and what they were going to do."
This is an indication that ethics is just another word for nothing left to steal. Lawrence had an opportunity to challenge one of the most unethical County Commissioner in the history of Harris County, and yet declined. Lawrence and the republican party of Harris County obviously thinks what Jerry Eversole has done with his donors money is within ethical guidelines of the party.

Thank God for South Carolina!

Texas may have the highest insurance rates in the nation, rank last on many important social issues, and we have our share of jesters, but last Weds we had a great opportunity to breath a sigh of relief and take a moment to thank God for the republicans in South Carolina.

Congressman Joe Wilson's (R-SC) incredible display of disrespect in the joint session of Congress towards President Obama and Governor Sanford's use of state resources to fan the flames of his affair with a woman from Argentina has allowed South Carolina to edge by Texas as the "Thank God for Texas" state. At least for the next week or so.

Pete Session, Republican hypocrite of the week

Just when you think a member of the republican party can't get any more hypocritical than being a "Christian Conservative" while banging a hooker, loving on a hot wise Argentina woman, or having an affair with your 22 year old intern, Congressman Pete Session comes forward as a candidate for republican hypocrite of the week.

Turns out Session, from Dallas, who called earmarks “a symbol of a broken Washington to the American people.” received $1.6m for a blimp company in Chicago, using an address for the request to Congress in Dallas, an address that happens to be the address of a close friend of the owner of the blimp company.

Turn out the lights the family values party is over

The party that claims to corner family values is now officially over with the second bizarre confession by a Grand Old Partier (GROPE) of having an affair. Unlike others who have affairs, the members of GROPE spew the rhetoric about the sanctity of marriage and christian conservative values, all the while having affairs with other women/men. The latest being South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.
NEW YORK (AP) — How did he think he could get away with it?

To visit his lover in Argentina, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford slipped his security detail, lied to his staff about his whereabouts and neglected to transfer executive power to the lieutenant governor in case of a state emergency.
