GOP reaches out to the Jewish community again

Once again the republican party is working hard to alienate the Jewish community:

The Jewish Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is hopping mad at hardline Republican radio host Rush Limbaugh for his "outrageous and inappropriate" analogy comparing President Barack Obama to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

"Regardless of the political differences and the substantive differences in the debate over health care, the use of Nazi symbolism is outrageous, offensive and inappropriate," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor, in an media advisory released Friday morning. "Americans should be able to disagree on the issues without coloring it with Nazi imagery and comparisons to Hitler. This is not where the debate should be at all."

By 2010, the republican party will be righter, whiter, and even more wrong-er.

Cornyn to White House: Quit collecting health care info

Sen. John Cornyn, accusing the White House of compiling an "enemies list" on health care, is asking President Barack Obama to cease a new program to have Americans send "fishy" information on health care to the White House.

Cornyn, the Texas Republican who leads his party's Senate campaign effort, said he's concerned that citizen engagement on health care reform could be "chilled."

"By requesting that citizens send "fishy" emails to the White House, it is inevitable that the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House," Cornyn wrote to Obama. "I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House."

No response from the White House yet. Click the link below for the full text of Cornyn's letter:

Clear Lake Hospital, a heart of cold.

This is why we need health care reform:

Kelly Luther of Alvin Texas, age 28, is a single mother of a daughter who is seven and two sons who are six and four. She has insurance and stage two cervical cancer, but can't afford the $5000 deductible that Clear Lake Hospital has demanded to be paid in full.

And it get's worse. From the Alvin Sun:
Luther has contacted the offices of State Representatives and State Senators, Governor Rick Perry’s office, United States Senators and United States Representatives as well as President Barack Obama’s office in order to find a solution. To date, she has received no help.

The freepers of the gop

The gop should be so proud. A conversative blog, the free republican has made front page on the Vancouver Sun website. Turns out the "freepers" just can't keep their racial slurs to themselves providing a face that is reflective of the gop:

"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion."

These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative 'Free Republic' blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama's 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.

The GOP reaches out to the black community.

And the gop wonders why they have become the minority party?

Republican strategist Ron Christie told CNN’s John Roberts that a Republican staffer in Tennessee should be fired for sending an email depicting President Barack Obama as white eyes on a black background.

Many are upset that Sherri Goforth, an aide to state Sen. Diane Black (R-Gallatin), was only given a written rebuke for forwarding a picture from her statehouse account that depicted all the presidents but included President Obama perceptible as only a pair of googly cartoonish white eyes.
I mean what does it take to get thrown out of the republican party? If sending a racist picture doesn't get you out the door, what do they have to do? Have an affair? Have sex with a hooker? Have an unwed pregnant 17 year old? Or how about being indicted for money laundering?

Oh....damn. Never mind.

Kaine: The Eyes of the DNC are Upon Texas

Democratic National Committee Chairman, and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, brought the Organizing for America listening tour to Dallas today where he intimated several times over that a competitive 2010 election cycle across the United States for Democrats includes the Lone Star State.

Kaine mentioned the positive dynamics of Democrats winning a gubernatorial seat here in Texas, especially if Rick Perry is the Republican nominee, and also took a moment to mention the potential of picking up a U.S. Senate seat with a special election upon the expected fall resignation of Kay Bailey Hutchison.  Kaine spoke as if he was well aware of some emerging competitive statewide races on the horizon here in Texas.

Juan Garcia: Confimation Process and More

As KT noted earlier, former State Representative and Commander in U.S. Navy Juan Garcia has been tapped by President Barack Obama to become the next Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

Since Garcia will be the second Texan to be nominated for a Senate confirmable position (Ron Kirk was the first), there should some dissemination what this position involves, and how Garcia fits.

This is a position rich in history. Previous individuals who have served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy include Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt and more recently the current U.S. Senator for Virginia, James

Obama says no to legalizing marijuana*

President Barack Obama is in the midst of his virtual townhall meeting, taking questions submitted online through the White House website. The public got to vote on which questions should be asked and he noted that one of the more popular questions was whether legalizing marijuana would be a good idea, especially as a way to spur economic activity.

"I don't know what this says about the online audience," Obama joked. "The answer is no, I don't think that is a good strategy to grow our economy."

It's a topical question, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declaring yesterday en route to Mexico that decades of anti-drug policy have failed.

Roslyn Shorter to Challenge Sue Lovell for Houston City Council Seat

In a rematch of a race for a seat on the Democratic National Committee at last summer's State Democratic Convention, Roslyn "Roz" Shorter will challenge incumbent Houston City Council Member Sue Lovell for the City's At Large Position 2.

Isiah Carey's InSite blog has more.
You may remember Shorter as the local woman chosen by the Barack Obama camp to get the Houston audience hyped when then Seantor Obama made a campaign stop in the Bayou City.  Shorter now says she's already to take on sitting Houston City Council Member Sue Lovell. Shorter says At-Large Position 2 is perfect for what she wants to do and she's willing to do serious battle with Lovell to take the spot.

Poll: Obama could defeat Palin in Texas in 2012

O.K. so there's a lot of things wrong with polling a presidential race four years in advance when the president is in his honeymoon period and the potential opponent has fallen off the nightly news.

But it's fun anyway.

Public Policy Polling has a new survey that shows President Obama would mop up in a re-election bid challenged by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP's vice presidential nominee from last year.

"Several national polls of Republican voters since the election last fall have shown Sarah Palin as the top choice of the party faithful to be the GOP's nominee for President in 2012. But a new national PPP poll finds that nominating Palin could be a death wish for the party, with Barack Obama leading Palin 55-35 in a hypothetical contest.
