Cheney shoots Hutchinson in the face

Cheney has publicly endorse Hutchinson for Governor. This is about as disastoraous as Lee Brown endorsing Gene Locke, Tony Sanchez endorsing Peter Brown, or my favorite Sarah Palin endorsing Rick Perry. (Although Perry actually wanted Palin, in a political way) Hutchinson responded:
“I am so *&^%$# pleased,” Hutchison said Wednesday. “I fear the former vice president so much. I just hope he doesn't shoot me in my *&^damn frickin face!”
OK. So I took a tiny bit of liberty with her response. What could be worse for Hutchinson than an endorsement from Darth Vader who won't keep his damn mouth shut like every other former vice president does? Instead Cheney has become a camera whore looking for every opportunity to tell Obama how he is screwing up his war in Afhganistan and Iraq.

Who shouldn't be Mayor of Houston?

We are lucky to have 3 qualified individuals running for Mayor of Houston. This election will probably end in a runoff. With this in mind, who should and shouldn't be Mayor of the city?

Who should:
Annise Parker. Annise is by far the most complete candidate running for Mayor. Her experience as a City Councilmember and as City Controller puts her head and shoulders above the rest especially in these economic times. Houston would be in very good hands with Annise Parker.

Peter Brown. Peter has the experience as a City Council Member, and with his strong message of planning and his business experience.

Clear Lake Forum. One didn't show. One shouldn't have.

The Clear Lake forum for District E and the Candidates for Mayor was held at UHCL competing with a beautiful night and disco dancing with the Chamber. The venue was absolutely great. Very professional. Very nice. Very well done. Questions were focused on the issues of Clear Lake, the golf course, the quality of life, traffic and other issues important to the area.

Mike Sullivan didn't show.
City Councilman Mike Sullivan declined to attend opting to dine and disco dance at the Clear Lake Chamber across the lake. It provided an opportunity for humor throughout the night. The District E part of the forum started at 7 and ended at 7:30.

Locke-d out of Locke's campaign

Everyone seems to be making a big whoop out of Mayoral candidate Gene Locke firing his fundraiser, Sue Walden. I think the reason is pretty obvious, based upon The Chronicles columnist, Rick Caseys observation:
Sue Walden isn't just any old fundraiser. She's one of Houston's veterans, having raised money for Mayors Bob Lanier and Lee Brown. She handled Texas and Louisiana last year for Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain. And she is currently on contract to Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison for her gubernatorial race.

Walden was shocked when Locke told her he was letting her go. Not only did she feel she had helped propel his candidacy to a good start, but the news came just a week after she had been treated for breast cancer.
